THE HEIGHTS
This is the shit I love about New York City. For way too long, I was surrounded by the “New” New York, and lately, I’ve been hanging out within the Old New York. I love the ghettos, being fearful of whether or not I am going to be robbed or shot, and the beautiful people that hustle every day to put food on their tables. As crazy as it sounds, I admire it. Life isn’t easy, and going to these parts remind me of that.
These are photos from the Heights. A little on the nicer side of things. I look forward to photographing more parts of New York that we have forgotten. NEW POP!
VINTAGE STREET SALE W/KESH! (HUSTLE N GRIND)
SALE THIS SUNDAY JUNE 7TH !!!
STAY TUNED FOR MORE VINTAGE SALES THIS JUNE AND JULY!!!!!!!!!!!!

KESH N CONTESSA
Kesh and I met on the streets of Bed Stuy at around 4 am two years ago. I hadn’t a clue who this beautiful tall amazon was, but I thought I’d just stop and holla at a shorty (she is much taller than I). I just came home from a dyke bar, so I thought, why not continue the cruising?
Kesh called me to go out one night, and we ended up at Roxy Cottontails old wednesday party at Room Service. Roxy then showed us a FABULOUS time, and took us (Kesh, M.I.A., Amanda Blank, Daft Punk, Spank Rock, Leif…etc.) into a strip club and bought us lap dances, champagne and so on. For me, picking out the stripper was the best part, but I would have rather Kesh give me the lap dance that night.

KESH, ALI and CONTESSA circa 2007
Ever since then we have a beautiful relationship with out sex. We are vintage partners and collaborators. I trust and value her opinion – and that doesn’t HAPPEN very often. She is really one of the truest people out there, and deserves all the success in the world.
Doing photo-shoots and vintage with her i’d have to say she has a sharp business eye, and really pays attention to detail. So when we decided to sell on the streets of Williamsburg, I know that we’d have great pieces to sell! anywhere from $3 – 30 (Recession prices, honey!)
All pictures below are from Kesh blog! (some pictures were taken by me, her, and anyone else who got their paws on the camera, including Antwan from ithinkyoureswell.com!)
FIRST SALE -
10:00 AM We were greeted with Kesh fans from New Jersey! through out the day fans of Contessa and Kesh were coming and buying. It was a WILD success! cha-ching!

JORDAN FOX SHOPS

After a wild success of Kesh and I’s first Vintage Sale, we decided to take over the streets again Sunday (April 26th) – This time it was bitter sweet – Kesh is moving to Chicago for a hot minute.
This time it was sweltering hot out, and we were a bit cranky at times, ALSO this time we had some fierce competition – I ended up buying a dress off of another vendor!
We stuck it out, and it ended up being a really chill time because of all our friends, and customers that stopped by!
Here is pictures from my camera phone

Giants and Kings
I remember the first time I met Nikki Ntu, and ever since then, the Kings connected and we are striving to change the world. We are not meant to only document one scene, one revolution, one person, one dream, or one light. We are here because we have to create some form of change within this world. We are here in order to become teachers for the future generation, and not drown ourselves in selfish arrogance because in the end, they have to carry on the torch.

Fashion and Queer undercurrent at Sway ONCE A MONTH!
What happens when you take ROXY COTTONTAILS biggest “profiling” Hip Hop party and infuse it with Queer hosts (Contessa) and DJ’s (Telfar and Kingdom from MR. BLACK’S CASTLE SATURDAYS) ?!!! You get a melange of “Industry” and/or Underground party people coming out of the wood work.
Typically Sway is known for it’s Mondays Electric Punanni, and Rice and Pea’s but something was missing for fashion hip hop heads.
Adding elements of queer friendly, fashion forward and Industry thinking – we get a balance of crazy partying and the ability (which Sway Mondays was missing for a while) NETWORKING.
With that being said, being involved on a Sway Monday that speaks to me, makes me very happy to be apart of a creative scene.

MAY 11TH 2009
Not to mention the first Fruity Cocomuffs Diplo did a surprise DJ set after miss Mad Decent’s MALUCA performed! This EDITION our home girl Shyvonne and Shamz Le Roc KILLED it.
So Queers, and Fashionista’s who like to bump and grind and dutty wine to a party with an undercurrent of Queer friendly energy, this is it ONCE A MONTH AT FRUITY COCOMUFFS!
I LOVE SWAY MONDAYS! The best hip hop party in NYC, EVER, PERIOD.

THE ROOTS TEASER
I have tried without much luck to land a web series or promotional campaign with a major artist or client without much luck. I have sent dozens of treatments, had a shit load of meetings, and have come as close as I could come without actually booking a gig. I am convinced that Viral Video will kill the Music Video star, but labels didn’t seem as convinced.
Well a few weeks back I got a call from a music producer to document a studio session for The Roots. We have done work with him before, documenting one of his artist Antoinette Costa which was super cool. We discussed doing a web series but nothing ever came of it. Well it turned out this producer also produces and manages The Roots.
So back to the gig; I arrived that night thinking this would be a one day gig just like most others. As the night progressed he tells me he wants to do a series leading up to the release of The Roots next album “How I Got Over” releasing June 23rd. For some reason at that time it didn’t quite register that I just landed my first web series with a major label. It happened so quickly and so smoothly that it caught me entirely off guard. And with The Legendary Roots crew, Wow! I can only imagine that this is how D.A. Pennebaker felt when he got his first big gig. (Geek reference) Anyway wish me luck. This could be a huge step in my crusade to advance the Viral Artist Series genre.
Here is the video teaser
Big thanks to Okay Player & Universal Music. And wish me luck, its a huge challenge.

CINCO DE MAYO DONE FILIPINO!
MAY 5TH 2009 AKA CINCO DE MAYO was spent at Mona Baltazars house. Mona has become a character within the New Pop from causing havoc with boys (Hollywood Holt), to being “where the parties at.” With that being said, Mona has graced the Cover of many NEW POP Videos (Movie Night, and SXSW). She has become a mother figure/mentor to me, not to mention she is my HAIR STYLIST.
Check out some designs Mona Baltazar has done for CONTESSA over the last two years.

MOST RECENT – BLONDE SHORT AND PRECISION
Now you know where I get my bomb ass hairstyles from. She is a creator and innovator, and you know I slaughter the world with my ever changing hair looks. SO if you need a HAIR STYLIST contact MONA BALTAZAR (Click her name for contact)
This Cinco de Mayo, she invited everyone over for some authentic Filipino food!
In her small studio apartment in Bushwhick, brooklyn the NY FAMILY was in full force! NEW POP bloggers ANTON GLAMB, STRICTLY BUSINESS, and photographer TONE even made it! Fresh Daily, Hiro tha Jap, DJ Kingdom, Jordan Fox, Nunnie (Rockstar Society), Black Cracker, StarCity, and among that was beautiful faces Noah, Xenia, Isabella, Cynthia, and Vanessa (whom all have had NEW POP cameos in Videos).
“Mother” Mona made us all go around in a circle and talk about ourselves and Introduce ourselves. I started off the circle because Mona is new-ish to NYC, and has became a best friend of mine, a lot of these people came into Mona’s life were thru me. I introduced myself to the circle as the “First Degree,” the main connection between everyone.
I dedicate this blog to “Mother” Mona and all the beautiful people I bring together thru my social and loving personality.
After the dinner party Black Cracker and I met up with Lauren Flax (whom was with Lady Sov) and we “celezbians” went out on the town to Snapshot (lesbian party), and Happy Endings (Tuesday’s ; SIX SIX SICK party) -Photos will up on DRIVENBYBOREDOM.
when I got home, I probably had the best sex of my life. My dollar store bustier is still in tip top shape. WOW.

SAVE THE WORLD WITH BAGGU.
Plastic bags are killing the planet, but who wants a clumsy paper bag. Here is a really functional and cool solution. Not something for the boys, but really cool for the girls. Video By Coolhunting.com
MY 420 FREESTYLE
So 420 of 2009 was spent smoking mad blunts and freestyling up in Black Crackers music studio in Brooklyn.

CONTESSA and BLACK CRACKER
Black Cracker was forced into making a West Coast stylized beat. She considered it one of the gayest beats she has ever made. You know once the “gay beat” was made, I just went loose. Since I am known for my Freestyles.

Poisonous Planet
Finally holmes…
Poisonous Planet is here..This is my debut EP of original music. Words cannot express where these ideas arrived from…I guess my soul, my dreams and all that I aspire in music form. Galaxy gangsta production by Tek and dope ass cameos from Fresh Daily, Jonny On The Rocks, and Dana La Rock
DOWNLOAD POISONOUS PLANET EP
So, I wrote majority of this EP at Oh’s Crib in the BX for a week in June 08. All I can remember is smoking good, drinking heavily and sleeping on the floor.
Tek flew down from Chi-Town and we knocked out production and song concepts. This was the most intense 7 days I ever had in my life. Working in the city taking that long ass packed ride on the 6 train to the BX. Then to go straight to music mode. It was like being a robot. Great thing about it I never questioned the songs just let em flow. That Saturday night I recorded Poisonous Planet with Jonny On The Rocks.
In the Studio with Jonny On The Rocks
Soul of the Songs: what was going thru my mothafuckin head when I was writing this shit….
The B.I.G. Oasis Intro…I’m from Bedford Stuyvestant, Brooklyn it’s only right to pay homage.
The Eulogy…I called this the eulogy cuz rap as I know and love is no longer relevant. Which is cool music must evolve but in the right direction. Can’t be Rawkus rappin in 2009 and if you are gonna do something different and new let it be relevant and real.
RIP TO THE 90′s

Robotic Narcotic….I can’t front I was thinking of Jonelle Monae…she was on that sexy android shit so this was my way of trying to holla. Then Dana La Rock blessed it with some sexy cosmo vocals shit is poppin..
A Lovely Hate….Me and Tek was up all nite listening to Prince Marathon on VH1soul. And we decided we gonna make our own nu-funk type shit.. A lovely hate describes how some niggas front like they want the best for you as long as the best for you does not surpass them. Which is wack.. Then Fresh Daily jumps on the track. shouts to Ron on drums..
City Weather…..this song came out the struggle.. I felt like New York can be the roughest, the coldest, bitter city and u must be prepared to weather the storms to survive. Jonny On The Rocks on the hook bodies it… Tek gets it in too.
Rappers Don’t Sing…..labels labels labels….dont box me in I am claustrophobic…feat Bless…Liz caught up with us one drunk night.
Danger…..First half is produced by Synthesis 2nd half by Tek…Its about rejectin all the “dangerous” things in my life only to discover that I want it. Heart in the right place my mind is somewhere else
Distored Interlude…..I was up too late and was bored… I blame ADHD but I never was diagnosed. Called it Distore
cuz I thought of the melody at Dis Store..
Disappear….was thinkin about leavin a place only to return stronger features Fresh Daily this negroe bodies it. dope dope dope
Above & Beyond….Me, Jonny On The Rocks, and Alex Confurious on keys over Coltrane nuff said…
Gone With Wind (freestyle)….Miss Banks left this track on my laptop by accident stumbled across it…I wanted to hear some Jodeci plus my girl was not answering her phone this is the outcome.
I wanna thank these muthafuckaz………
For turnin ya crib to a production studio.
Tek on the boards
Jonny On The Rocks
Fresh Daily
JR Dunn on Drums
