City Short – New York

Spring is in the air, for me that means one thing, weekly walks through our amazing city.   At least once a week I dedicate a day where I just walk around for hours taking in the sites of the city.  It’s my favorite reason for living in New York.  The trick for me is to get around without the use of mass transit.  I live right next to the Williamsburg Bridge so the first and last part of most of my walks start and end with a walk across the bridge. It’s an experience that I think is very unique to this city of bridges.

This video Narrated by Richard Christiansen of Chandelier Creative for the folks at Wallpaper Magazine captures that experience.

The Market – Amazing!

It’s a rare occurance when a video inclines me to express my amazement in an audible fashion.   The Market by Terje Sorgjerd is one such video. The opening sequence of shots is one of the most amazing sequences I have seen in the New Media format. Terje’s composition, sense of timing and ear for music are exquisite and make this piece one of the best videos I have seen to date. Incredible!

“Bangkok’s Maeklong Market has been in existence for decades. It remained relatively undisturbed until the later creation of the Maeklong Railway… The result? Every single day the Maeklong Railway line passes through Maeklong – 8 times a day, 7 days per week. The train literally runs directly through the middle of the market…”

John Legend & The Roots – @ Bowery Ballroom

This is another installment from the American Airlines travel series featuring Nelson George called Black Atlas. American Airlines is starting to put more money into marketing this great idea and had a launch party last week at the Bowery Ballroom which I did 2nd camera on and edited.   The highlights  of the night was of course John Legend and The Roots performing tracks from their new project Wake Up!

After the show the crew headed over to Pulino’s on Houston and Bowery for drinks and a series of great stories from Nelson George who is the ultimate storyteller.  There is no video of that part of the night (I was having too much fun).

Black Atlas – Beijing

Anyone going to Beijing?  Here is a guide from a series I have been editing for BlackAtlas.com featuring world renowned author, filmmaker and producer Nelson George.  These videos give a view of the best tourist destinations in the world with an African American slant, but there is something in there for everyone.  In this episode Nelson hits the courts, visits with Beijing’s first African American newswoman and scales the Berlin Wall.

Black Atlas – The Hamptons

Recently I have been editing an American Airlines series of travel videos for BlackAtlas.com. The series is hosted by renowned writer, traveler and filmmaker Nelson George.  Nelson takes us from Paris to Beijing, from New Orleans to Alaska.  As the title suggests Black Atlas is a travel guide with an African American slant, but there is something in there for everyone.  I have been learning so much from editing these videos that I thought why not share it with my jet-setting audience.

In this episode Nelson heads out to the Hamptons/Montauk/Sag Harbor and meets up with his friends Russel Simmons and Anthony Anderson. I also learned allot about the Sag Harbor African American legacy.

John Legend – Interview

Check out this interview with Pop Star John Legend that I edited and did 2nd Camera for. It is for an American Airlines travel series called Black Atlas that I have been working on. I totally used the Q & A editing style I have been using on the GTKU project in this edit. It’s great being able to implement techniques from my creative projects into my commercial gigs.
