Leica Portrait – Joel Meyorowitz

I don’t know if I will ever have the time to post on a daily basis again, but I think I should post at least once a week like I did when I originally launched The New Pop. The managed growth thing I have been doing is starting to turn into plain old complacency.

I have a couple of really cool personal projects that I am currently working on. Pluggedin will be coming off it’s short hiatus and we will be launching the fourth and fifth episodes shortly. Then there is another personal project that I am currently working on that will be insanely dope! I mean dope, dope! Until then here is the latest video from one of my favorite clients Leica.

I have a bunch or projects on cue from Leica including portraits for Bruce Davidson, Ed Templeton, and Seal. Yes the singer Seal happens to be an avid photographer and passionate Leica user. For today’s post I have a portrait we shot back last August of Joel Meyorowitz “An award-winning street photographer who has been creating memorable images in the great photojournalistic tradition since 1962″.

Leica Portraits – Jonathan Mannion

It’s been awhile since we published a video from our very popular Leica series. Hopefully this one will get us back on track. This video features Cleveland, Ohio native Jonathan Mannion, who began capturing images of up-and-coming urban music superstars after working for a year with world-renowned photographer Richard Avedon. In 1996, he launched his professional career by shooting the photographs for the classic hip-hop album “Reasonable Doubt” by Jay-Z. Since then he has gone on to capture a who’s who in music, celebrity and sports. In this video Jonathan gives us a little insight into his process as well as some advice for future shutterbugs who want to be like him.

Leica Portrait: Paul S. Bartholomew

Our latest Leica portrait features Pennsylvania based commercial photographer Paul S. Bartholomew.  Paul specializes in architecture photography and among other things shared his thoughts on the informal as well as the formal approaches to his craft.  We met Paul at the Highline Park which is one of the more graceful architectural accomplishments this city has ever seen.  It’s melding of architecture and recreation was a fitting location to meet Paul and watch him at work.  Read more about Paul at the Leica Blog.

Portrait: Ralph Gibson

This is the first installation in a series of video portraits we are doing for the Leica blog.  This introductory episode focuses on Ralph Gibson who has achieved worldwide acclaim as a photographer for more than four decades. A champion of individual expression, Gibson urges photographers to develop a personal style by following their own instincts.

Photo Nerd Alert! Leica – Scott Geffert

So my second entry for the Leica series comes from Scott Geffert the president for the Center of Digital Imaging inc. I caught up with Scott at Photo Plus East 2010 where he discussed some of his innovative approaches to international imaging standards.   Sorry about the echo in the room my location options were limited.
