Fiction Meets Fact. “E-Paper”
There is this clip from Minority Report (one of my all-time favorite films) where Tom Cruise’s character tries to flee capture by casually strolling on a metro train. Just then an image of him pops up on a E-Newspaper being read by a fellow passenger. It was one of the more memorable scenes from this movie that made me say, wow!!! I thought how cool it would be if someone were able to invent something like that. Well 8 years later it looks like someone is getting ever so close. Yesterday I ran across this really cool post on HypeBeast about this cool new device that just might revolutionize and save print. Its from Bonnier and it is what a true Digital Magazine should look like.
Check out the two clips I posted below. The first is the short clip from Minority Report that I mentioned above. The second is a feature on the prototype from Bonnier. Maybe one day you will see TheNewPop published on one of these babies
Thunder Perfect Mind
A lovely ad made for Prada with the beautiful Daria Werbowy reciting Thunder Perfect Mind. Thunder Perfect Mind is a poem discovered among the Gnostic manuscripts at Nag Hammadi in 1945. It takes the form of an extended, riddling monologue, in which an immanent saviour speaks a series of paradoxical statements concerning the divine feminine nature.
New Pop City
So I just uploaded a video that I shot where most of the fam gathered for a photo shoot for this upcoming book by the KDU’s Phil Knott called “State Of The Moment”. He is documenting creative NYC crews and asked us to come to his studio when we met on The Kid Cudi shoot. This is the most New Pop heads we’ve had in one place at one time so I had to bring the camera out as did Tone and Texas. So check the video and photos. As busy as we all are who knows when we will all get a chance to be in one place at one time like this again.
THE ROOTS TEASER
I have tried without much luck to land a web series or promotional campaign with a major artist or client without much luck. I have sent dozens of treatments, had a shit load of meetings, and have come as close as I could come without actually booking a gig. I am convinced that Viral Video will kill the Music Video star, but labels didn’t seem as convinced.
Well a few weeks back I got a call from a music producer to document a studio session for The Roots. We have done work with him before, documenting one of his artist Antoinette Costa which was super cool. We discussed doing a web series but nothing ever came of it. Well it turned out this producer also produces and manages The Roots.
So back to the gig; I arrived that night thinking this would be a one day gig just like most others. As the night progressed he tells me he wants to do a series leading up to the release of The Roots next album “How I Got Over” releasing June 23rd. For some reason at that time it didn’t quite register that I just landed my first web series with a major label. It happened so quickly and so smoothly that it caught me entirely off guard. And with The Legendary Roots crew, Wow! I can only imagine that this is how D.A. Pennebaker felt when he got his first big gig. (Geek reference) Anyway wish me luck. This could be a huge step in my crusade to advance the Viral Artist Series genre.
Here is the video teaser
Big thanks to Okay Player & Universal Music. And wish me luck, its a huge challenge.
